Marine Surveillance
Ex|CAM AF Series, fixed mount thermal imagers can be deployed as marine surveillance systems. Differences in infrared radiation reflection efficiency of different materials – known as emmisivity- can be detected by the Ex|CAM systems ultra sensitive infrared detector array and portrayed as an image on a monitor.
Alternatively, Ex|CAM can detect radiated infrared energy from sources with a differential temperature from as little as 80mK. Unlike low cost, illuminated infrared cameras which rely upon a reflected thermal signal being returned from the target, Ex|CAM requires no illumination which correspondingly causes a distinct increase in sensitivity when compared to illuminated systems which can suffer from atmospheric absorption.
Typical Applications for Marine Surveillance Include:-
• Detection of personnel in total darkness, dense smoke or foggy conditions.
• Advance information of imminent fires.
• Detection of oil spills at sea
• Detection of distant/approaching ships in bad visibillity
• Detection of ‘man overboard’ at night
